Motion Picture Producer. He is best known for numerous science fiction and fantasy films from the 1950s into the 1980s. His most notable pictures were the result of his collaboration with film specialist Ray Harryhausen, which include "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" (1957), "Jason and the Argonauts" (1963), "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" (1974) and "Clash of the Titans" (1981). He was born in Norfolk, Virginia and attended Columbia University before he would embark on his Hollywood career. Among his other notable films are "It Came from Beneath the Sea" (1955), "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers" (1956), "Hellcats of the Navy" (1957), "Battle of the Coral Sea" (1959), "Mysterious Island" (1961), "Half a Sixpence" (1967) and "The Valley of Gwangi" (1969).
