A Civil War Veteran. Husband of Eliza Woods.

---------

Obituary.

A pall of sorrow shrouded the community last Wednesday by the announcement of the death of Cornelius Brake, so startling was the unwelcome tidings. Deceased was about 69 years of age and had been a sufferer of lung fever for three weeks. His pains he bore without a murmur. He was a veteran of the Civil war. He leaves a wife and three children, two girls and one boy, one son having preceded him to his resting place several years ago. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The community condoles with the bereft wife and little children and other near and dear relatives in their sad bereavement. None can feel their loss more than the surviving wife whose heart strings are rent with grief and her little children who are not old enough to divine why it is that papa is gone, yet observe that they are deprived of his tender care. The funeral ocurred [sic] at the residence in Buckhorn, the services being conducted by Rev. Alex Orr, after which the remains were taken to the Buckhorn cemetery followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
