Hubbard Lawrence is the son of Micah and Eunice Willard Lawrence of Winchester and Keene, NH.
Deacon Hubbard Lawrence moved from Winchester, NH, to St Johnsbury, Vt. about 1800. He is found in the census for this town in 1800 and 1810.
He was actively engaged in organizing the first church gathered there, of which he was elected a deacon. He possessed " warm, generous feeling, good sense, and sound judgment," " was deeply interested in the improvement of society, and did much for its advancement," was a good example of a husband, a parent, a citizen, and a Christian.
He married Mary Goss the daughter of Philip and Ester Gale Goss on Feb 22, 1801. From this union there were 9 children. Louisa, Clarisa Goss, Mary Ann, Solomon Willard, Edward Alexander, Emily, Hubbard, John and William Goss Lawrence
Hubbard died on Sept 20, 1816. Hubbard was originaly buried in the now defunct St Johnsbury Village Cemetery and moved to the new Mount Pleasant Cemetery about 1855 so the town could build a Courthouse on the location of the old burial ground.
Mary Lawrence remarried January 14, 1823 to Selah Pomery Esq of Stanstead, CE where she moved and died April 17, 1837.
