Fred J.Sackett

Memorial services for Fred J. Sackett, 84, of Rapid City, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Behrens Mortuary in Rapid City by the Rev. Tim Vann.

The ashes will be interred at Black Hills National Cemetery.

Sackett died Friday at his home in Rapid City.

He was born Nov. 10, 1896, at Lanesborough, Minn., where he graduated from high school. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in pharmacy.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist's mate from 1917 to 1919.

He owned and operated pharmacies in Minnesota and Colorado.

He married Edythe Myler May 29, 1927, at Watertown. They moved to Rapid City in 1950 and in 1970 to Arlington, Texas. They returned to Rapid City in 1980.

Sackett was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine.

He is survived by one son, Robert of San Mateo, Calif., two grandchildren and one brother, R.C. Sackett of Palo Alto, Calif.

His wife died in 1980.
