George W. "Bill" Acks, 84 of Decatur died at 12:30 pm Friday (March 25, 2005) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services celebrating his life will be in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton.

Bill, as he was known, was born in Hamilton County, IL on August 17, 1920 the son of George W. and Hulda Dulany Acks. He served his country proudly in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, an alumni of the AACS, former member of the Elks, former member of the Masons, and a member of AMVETS. He was a former member of the Dahlgren First Baptist Church.

He married Marcia Jeanne Brown on January 03, 1942, she preceded him in death on April 06, 1967. He later married Nancy Kay Lenover in Decatur on June 08, 1968; she survives. He worked as a Claims Officer for Federal Kemper for over 34 years, retiring in 1985.

Also surviving include his two sons; ; 2 grandchildren; great granddaughter.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Jeanne.
