Birth: Apr. 20, 1820
Death: Feb. 26, 1907

Emanuel was reported to have been Captain of a North Carolina Company during the Mexican War and being wounded once.

1861 he enlisted with the Union army, but was forced to join the Confederacy for the sake of family and effects. He served under General Lee and participated in engagements at Richmond and Petersburg.

He was County Treasurer(Lincoln or Gaston Co.N.C.). Source: "A Reminiscent History of the Ozark Region",in a sketch concerning one of Emanuel's sons, Monroe Lafayette "M.L." Aderholdt (Aderholt/Aderhalt). M.L. is a son of Emanuel's first wife,Mary Rudisill, daughter of "Gentleman" Jonas Rudisill),who had moved to Harrison,Boone County Arkansas and was a distillery owner, carpenter, stock raiser, merchant, and bank owner. Jonas who was assassinated. There is a sketch online concerning the fatal shooting of M.L. by the Pace brothers.

Emanuel was a Lutheran.

He farmed, was a miller and distiller.

Emanuel was once attacked by a freed slave after the Civil War. The man crept up on Emanuel, ambushed him,and struck Emanuel on the back of the head with a wooden truncheon. Dazed but still conscious, Emanuel grabbed his rifle and aimed it at the bandit, who was attempting to rob him.Emanuel fired his weapon and shot an ear completely off of the man's head.
