The following is the obituary for William Riley Taylor: "William Riley Taylor died Sunday night, at his home near Hazelrigg, in Jefferson township. On his way to Thorntown on Tuesday night of last week Mr. Taylor suffered a partial stroke of paralysis. He was brought home, speechless, and there was a gradual giving way until final dissolution as above. Mr. Taylor had symptoms of paralysis all winter.
The deceased was born in Union county, this state, October 7, 1817. He came to Boone county in 1832 and entered the land where he died. He married Elizabeth BECK in 1832 and Eliza CALDWELL in 1875. Three children survive him - William R., Francis M. and James L.
Mr. Taylor was one of the wealthiest farmers in the county. Before deeding a part of his land away a few years ago he had a farm of about 650 acres. He died owning over 400 acres of as good land as Boone county embraces.
Mr. Taylor was a good neighbor and citizen, a man of strong traits of character, and was very highly esteemed. The funeral at the residence on Tuesday was conducted by Eld. Warbington, of Covington, Ky. The remains were buried in the family burying ground near the old home."
