Golda O'Daniel, 84, Bardstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Springview Hospital, Lebanon. A native of Marion County, she was a lifelong homemaker employed by St. Joseph School in the lunchroom for many years, and a former employee of the Bardstown Sewing Factory. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish active in the St. Joseph Altar Society and volunteered for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Edward O'Daniel; a son, Ronnie O'Daniel; a great-grandson; her parents, Arthur and Regina Isabelle Smith Cambron; a brother, Thomas Cambron and a sister, Florence Hagan. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy O'Daniel and Ricky O'Daniel, both of Bardstown; seven daughters, Betty Stone, Peggy Hibbs, Dale Downs, Fran Mattingly and Carol O'Daniel, all of Bardstown, Mary Brothers, Bloomfield, and Kathy Coomer, Richmond; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Monzell Bland, Huntingburg, Ind., and Itty Thompson, Loretto; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Hammer officiated. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Masses for Golda O'Daniel. Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
