Funeral services for Claiborne F. Stanga, 71, former Ponchatoula meat market operator, who succumbed early Monday morning, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the First Methodist church, Hammond, Rev. Ira D. Flowers officiating. Interment followed in the Stanga cemetery at Bedico. Mr. Stanga operated a meat market in Ponchatoula for a number of years. Afterwards, he moved to Hammond where he opened a grocery store which he operated until he retired from business several years ago. Mr. Stanga is survived by his widow, and a brother and sister. [He was the son of John A Stanga and Marie Medora Perilloux who was born in Lions, St John the Baptist Parish, on 17 Jun 1834]
