Elizabeth 'Bessie' Amanda Hillard was the daughter of Eliza Jane Jamison (1844-1897) and John McMillan Hillard (1842-1906).

She married John Calvin Stoops (1857-1932) on June 3, 1887 in Butler County, Pennsylvania.

• Stephen S. Stoops (1888-1974)
• Helen Marie Williams (1890-1961)
• Clara Belle Stoops (1892-1971)
• Bertha May Myers (1895-1963)
• Lois Jeanette Williams (1901-1985)

Obituary, Butler Eagle, April 13, 1931:

Mrs. Bessie Stoops, aged 63, wife of John C. Stoops, died at the family home, Karns City R.D., at 9 o'clock Saturday night,
Surviving are her husband, and the following children; Stephen of Fairview, Mrs. Helen Williams of Petrolia, Clara Belle Stoops at home, Mrs. Bertha Myers and Mrs. Lois Williams of Fairview township.
She was a member of the Fairview United Presbyterian church and the Women's General Missionary society of that church.
Funeral services will be held from the family residence at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning with the Rev. R. C. Sherrard, officiating. Burial will be in the Bear Creek cemetery.
