Mrs. Peter DeJong passed away at her home in Rock Valley Monday morning, following an illness with pneumonia. Mrs. De Young had been a resident of Rock Valley for that past forty years. She was born in Holland May 31, 1862, where she grew to womanhood. She is survived by her husband, four sons, and four daughters, some living in Rock Valley and vicinity and others at a distance. She also leaves thirty grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church this Thursday afternoon and the remains will be taken to the Valley View Cemetery.

Agnes Reitsma De Jong was born in Friesland, Holland, May 3, 1862, and at the time of her death had attained the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 20 days. She passed away, Thuesday morning March 1, 1932 from pneumonia after an illness of six days although she had suffered with asthma for som eyears. She was married to Mr. Peter De Jong in her native land.
Mr. and Mrs. De Jong came to America in 1885 locating at La Crosse, Wisconsin, and remined there only a short time and later trekked across the prairies to a place near Middleburg In 1889 they went to Hull where they lived one year; in 1890 they moved to Doon and in 1891 came to Rock Valley where they have since remained.
To this union were born nine children, the oldest one, Zebe, born in Holland, died in infancy. Mrs. Dora Roberts born in Halland and now lives in LeMars; Mrs. Jennie Merritt, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Zeber of LeMars; Mrs. Clara Fray, Chippewa Falls, Wis., not able to attend the funeral; Mrs. Rose Stiffler of Saint Paul, Minn.; Henry and John De Jong, both of LeMars; Arthur De Jong of Rock Valley, beside the husband who is 78. There are thirty granchildren and five great grandchilderen.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the M.E. church conducted by Rev. G. A. Tyler and the burial was made at Valley View cemetery.
