FRANK STONE DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESSWell Known Laborer in Manchester for Many Years. Funeral Wednesday Afternoon.Frank Stone long time resident of Manchester, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. V. Hines, near Strawberry Point, Sunday, Jan 7, 1940, after an illness of more than six months. Funeral services will be held at the Brown funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at l o'clock, in charge of Rev. Thos. P. Shaffer. Burial will be made in Oakland cemetery here.Mr. Stone was born in Clayton county in August, 1872, and spent his entire lifetime in this locality. For a time the family resided on a farm in the Golden neighborhood, and during the past forty years had been a resident of Manchester.Mr. Stone spent much time doing landscape work and had been employed by many property owners here. He had been a hard working man all his life and appreciated an opportunity to be able to earn an honest livelihood. He could always be depended upon to deal honestly and fairly with those who employed him, and he took keen delight in doing the work well and to the entire satisfaction of people for whom he worked.Mr. Stone lived alone in West Manchester the last ten years, and when his physical condition became serious he was taken to his sister's home near Strawberry Point where he was given the most affectionate care. Survivors are three children and the sister named. Many people here will remember Frank Stone as an industrious workman, a man of kindly nature, who will be missed by many here.
