Arthur Mather, one of the prominent residents of Clackamas county, who has resided for many years at Clackamas Station, died at the family home Tuesday morning, January 20, at 1 o'clocks, after a brief illness, and his death was sudden and was caused by dilation of the heart.
Arthur Mather was born December 25, 1849, at Netherplace, Newton, Mears, near Glasgow, Scotland, and came to the United States in 1873.
He arrived at Clackamas Station April 1, 1879, and from that time until his death was engaged in the general merchandise business.
Mr Mather was also postmaster and Southern Pacific agent until three years ago.
The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs Isabel Mather, three daughters, Miss Agnes Mather, Mrs Ethel Foster and Mrs Isabel Piper, and one son, Arthur G Mather, all residing at Clackamas.
He also leaves two sisters and one brother in Scotland.
