Hamtramck Man Dies After Hit-And-Run
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. -- A 22-year-old Hamtramck man died Thursday after being hit by a car as he was crossing the street.
Hamtramck police said Randy Cammon was crossing the street at Commor Avenue and the northbound Interstate 75 service drive at about 4:30 a.m. when he was hit by a dark, four-door car.
Police said the car was traveling at high speeds and dragged Cammon for several hundred feet without stopping. He died at the scene, police said.
Cammon's family said they are stunned and want the responsible driver found, but they are willing to offer forgiveness.
"I don't hate the people who did this because they gotta deal with God," Cammon's father, Brian, said.
"If that person had any kind of heart, they would speak out and tell the truth," added Cammon's sister, Michelle.
Police are looking for the responsible driver and car, and said the car had all of its windows tinted and would have extensive front end body damage.
