Mr. Sloan was born north of Hamilton in Clinton County on May 2, 1879 and had spent his entire life on the same farm. He was the son of John R. and Elizabeth Pickering Sloan.
His wife, Mrs. Minnie Simmons Sloan, to whom he was married in 1901, died in 1958.
He is survived by two sons, Ellis Sloan of Mulberry Rt. 1 and John E. Sloan of Monticello Rt. 5; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning April 28 at the Brown Funeral Chapel at Rossville with burial in the Bunnell Cemetery.
