Jacob Kleis married Catharina (Kessler) Kleis on January 26, 1824 in Homburg, Germany.

Jacob and Catharina then moved to Stubenville, Stark County Ohio in 1833 after their arrival to North America. Jacob and Catharina Kleis had ten children.

They immigrated from Wiesbach or Homburg Germany on the Ship Vesper and arrived at New York on Dec. 17, 1831.

Catharina's husband Jacob Kleis was born June 6, 1793 in Wiesbach. He died March 10, 1872 at Newburg Ohio and was buried on March 13, 1872 Morges, St. Mary's Rose Township, Carrol Co. Ohio.

Catharina (Kessler) Kleis was born around 1803 and died August 1877 in Rose Township, Carroll County, Ohio

His grandfather was Johann "Hans" Nikolaus Kleis and Anna Catharina Dietz.

4. Mary Kleis Brn. c. 1830 (She died on the ship coming to America).

5. Catharine Kleis Brn. 1831

6. Francis A. "Franklin" Kleis Brn. 1832 Carroll county, Ohio. He married Jane Gertrude.

7. Rosan Kleis Brn. 1834

8. Jacob Kleis Jr. Brn.1834/1836 Married Rebecca Ann Bourass/ Burris

9. David A. Kleis c. 1838

10. Magdalina E. Kleis Brn. September 1842. Married Adam Burwell.

Information below about Jacob Kleis's father and mother:

Anton Kleis was born 1755 April 6. in Wiesbach near Homburg/Pfalz, Germany. He was the son of Johann (Hans) Nikolaus Kleis/ or originally spelled, Johann (Hanss) Nigel/Nikel Kleis and his wife Anna Katharina Dietz. Anton married in Wiesbach 1777 Nov. 24. to Anna Eva Wehn born 1754 Febr. 4.

His son Jacob married in Homburg/Pfalz 1824 Jan. 26. to Catharina Kessler.

Anton had in Wiesbach at least two brothers, Johann Adam (7 children) and Johann Nikolaus (9 children). Johann Nikolaus was teacher in Wiesbach.
