Mildred Chappell, 87, of Denton, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in Denton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. today in Silverton Cemetery in Silverton.
Mildred was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Flomont and had lived in Amarillo since the early 1940s, moving to Denton in 1998. She was a homemaker and had been a Church of Christ member since childhood. As a creative person, she loved working with various crafts and painting. She was a committed wife and a nurturing mother. Her fun, lively sense of humor blessed those around her.
Survivors include two sons, Calvin Chappell of Plano and Fred Chappell of Austin; a daughter, Durenda Quick of Denton; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Chappell; a son, Roy Chappell; her parents; and six brothers and sisters.
