RUEL BENJAMIN "SHORTY" CONDER , 94, of Shelbina, died at 10 a.m. Saturday (March 30, 1985) in the Salt River Nursing Home in Shelbina. He had been a resident of the home two months.
Mr. Conder was born March 2, 1891, in Knox County [MO], a son of Adam J. and Minerva Holliday CONDER. He married Ola Howerton Baltzer, Dec. 23, 1933, in Novelty [MO]. She survives. [*died January 1991] Mr. Conder was a retired farmer and construction worker. He was an Army veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Conder had lived in Idaho from 1945 to 1971, when he returned to Missouri.
Also surviving are a stepson, Darrell Baltzer of Twin Falls, Idaho; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Darrell Purdy of Shelbina; seven stepgrandchildren; and 17 step-greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters, two half-brothers and a half-sister.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the West Chapel of the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina by the Rev. William Knowles. Burial will be in Pleasant Prairie Cemetery northwest of Bethel.
