Mrs Hazel Bleeker age 91 passed away at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday eveing, May 11, 1982 at the Long Care Unit of the Grunday County Memorial Hospital
Funeral services were held Friday May 14, 1982 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethany Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Calivin W. Vanderwerf Officiating.
Mrs. Roger Stachour sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and in "The Garden". She was accompained by Mrs. Raymond Apple who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.
Casket bearers were Max Girres, Kenneth Havel, Leroy Thoren, E.D. Jansen, Virgil Eberline and Ken Wright. Ushers were Edward Flater, and Loyd Dreesman, Mrs Bill Harken was in charge of the floral arrangements. Lee Thoren, Floyd Rouse and Jack beenken provided their cars for the family use.
Burial was in the fairview Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Mrs Bleeker was born September 10, 1890 in Germany, the daughter of Harm and Antje Mennenga.She attained the age of 91 years, 8 months and one day. When she was two years old her family came to America and settled in the Reinbeck area, She was united in marriage to Jake, Arends. he passed away in 1913. On Februray 10, 1914 in Reinbeck she was united in marriage to Hei Bleeker and in 1923 they moved and made their home in Grundy Center. Mr Bleeker passed away on July 29,1966. She lived alone until Oct. 2, 1975 when she became a resident of the Long term Care Unit , Grundy Center.
While she lived in Reinbeck she was a member of the Lutheran Church. After moving to Grundy Center she became a member of Bethany Presbyterian church and Ladies Aid group of the church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and second husband, two sons Henry who died Dec. 19, 1921 in Grant Twp. Tama Co. Iowa and Harm Bleeker, two brothers, one sister and five grandchildern.
She survived by four daughters, Mrs. John (Anna) Ash, Mrs. Darrell (Arlene) Essen. Mrs. James (Marlene) Sincock of Flint Mi. and Mrs Ervin ( Hilda) White of Marshalltown; one son Jake Arends of Zearing, Ia; 22 grandchildern, 40 greatgrand-childern and three great great grandchildern.
The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home Grunday center was in charge of the arrangements.

Hazel married Hei Bleeker February 18, 1915, at Reinbeck, Iowa. Children: Harm, Arlene Rose (Mrs. Darrell Joseph) Essen, Marlene May (Mrs. Lloyd) Sincock and Hilda(Mrs. DeYaun) Tucker. Arlene and Marlene are twins.
