James Dillard Barber, 84 years of age, of Eubank, Kentucky, departed this life on Friday, January 9th, 2009 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

James was born in Mintonville, Kentucky on October 26th, 1924, son of the late Dillard and Hettie Rainwater Barber. He was a truck driver for Detherage Freight Line and a World War II United States Navy veteran.

James was survived by his wife, Bernice Ashley Barber; two sons, Wayne Barber and Stephen Barber; one daughter, Donna (and David) Schmidt; one sister, Carlie Roy; four grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard Barber and Hettie Barber; four brothers, Phillip Barber, Marvin Barber, Marcus Barber, and Allen Barber; and one sister, Ilene Barber Elliott.

Visitations were held after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11th, 2009 at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12th, 2009 in the Chapel of the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Watts officiating.

Burial was in the Bethelridge Cemetery.
