Lawrence Edward Tucker age 78 of Maryville went to Stand for Jesus Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Baptist Hospital West. A Veteran of the United States Navy, retired after 20 years of service. His retirement rate and rank were TMC (SS), grade E-7. He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was awarded numerous awards and achievements throughout his military service including, National Defense 2nd Award, Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, FBM, 10 years of service Award, Enlisted Submarine Qualifying Insignia. Silver Dolphins, SSBN, Deterrent Patrol Insignia, 3 Silver Stars for 15 Patrols. He taught at the Naval Guided Missile School in Dam Neck, VA. He was an Engineer at Lockheed Missile. Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Gordon and Aileen Loehr; sisters, Donna Garvin and Thelma Hall; grandsons, Timothy Edward Tucker and James Lee Tucker. Survivors include: wife, Doris M. Tucker; sons and daughters-in-law, James Lee Tucker of Dallas, GA, Stephen E. and Colleen Tucker of Cummings, GA, Paul E. and Kay Tucker of Friendswood, TX, Ralph C. and Jaretha Tucker of Pasadena, TX, Fred and Tracy Batts of Friendswood, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and David Garber of Lancaster, PA; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
