Dale E. Coy, age 60, of Elmore, died Dec. 29, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services were held Jan. 2, 2009, at Community Chapel in Lakota, Iowa. Pastor Ron Wheeler officiated. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Elmore. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Blue Earth assisted the family with the arrangements.

Dale was born Sept. 13, 1948, in Waseca, the son of Lester and Mary (Barnick) Coy. He was raised and educated in the Elmore and Lakota areas where he was a 1966 graduate of Lakota High School. He graduated with a degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa before serving in the U.S. Army. Following his service in the Army and Army Reserves, he returned to the family farm southeast of Elmore and farmed with his dad until the present. Dale was married to Diane K. Kleyn on April 18, 1975, at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Dale was an active, longtime, member of Community Chapel in Lakota and had served on the North Iowa District School Board for several years. Dale enjoyed camping, collecting cars, being on the tractor on the farm and especially social time spent with family and friends.

Dale is survived by his wife Diane Coy of Elmore, his daughter Delora "Lorie" (Adam) Schnell of New Hope, his sons Pastor Davis (Jill) Coy of Savoy, Ill., Dustin (Stephanie) Coy of Waukee, Iowa, and Darrick Coy of West Des Moines, Iowa, his parents Lester and Mary Coy of Elmore, his sisters Barbara (Merrill) Ludwig of Estes Park, Colo., Susan (Terry) Kiewiet of Buffalo Center, Patricia (Loren) Skilbred of Wolcotville, Ind., Kelly Anderson of Blue Earth, his brother Darrin (Peg) Coy of Clifton Park, N.Y., and his grandchildren Jenna and Austin Schnell and Caleb Coy.
