US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1899 and commenced the practice of law in Galveston, Texas. From 1906 to 1908, he was a member of the State House of Representatives and served as judge of the tenth judicial district of Texas, 1909 to 1919. In 1919, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-sixth Congress and to the seven succeeding Congresses, serving in office until his death from a heart attack. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
