Whitfield Featherstone was born in Darlington, Durham, England, Aug. 18, 1843 and died Jan. 25, 1908. He came to this country forty-two years ago settling in Benton, Wis., where he resided several years when he went to Iowa and remained a short time, from there moving to Lasalle, Illinois, where he resided until his death. He had been in failing health for a number of years, and during the long months when each day the lamp of life was gradually being extinguised he was patient and resigned.

He was a good neighbor, and an affectionate husband and father. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and four children, Thomas, Oden, Ill., Jennie Smyth, Benton, Wis., Mary Edwards, Baton Rouge, La., and Ella Murray, Lasalle, Ill. Also one brother, two sisters, and six grandchildren.

The funeral services were held in the Congregational church at Lasalle, and the large number in attendance and the flower-covered casket were mute testimonies of the esteem in which he was held.

Interment in Oaklawn Cemetery.
