He played at the place kicker and punter positions for three seasons (1968 to 1970) in the American and National Football Leagues with the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers. After playing collegiate football at Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan Universities, he would appear in 38 career total AFL and NFL games. He was a member of the Bengals' team during their debut season in 1968. He kicked a game winning field goal while with the Packers during the franchise's first appearance on "Monday Night Football" in 1970. After retiring from football, Livingston became a teacher and coach. He was inducted into the Western Michigan University Athletics' Hall of Fame in 2007.
