James Arthur Cumpston
VIVIAN, LA = Graveside services for James Arthur Cumpston, 81, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 28, 1990 at Vivian Cemetery under the direction of McGuire Funeral Home. Officiating will be the Rev. Pepper Purvear.
Mr. Cumpston died Wednesday, September 26, 1990 at the North Caddo Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born January 29, 1909 in Ringgold County, Iowa, was a retired pipe fitter and a veteran of World War II. Mr. Cumpston was a member of the First Baptist Church, VFW, in Vivian and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Hart Cumpston.
Survivors include one step-son, Mercer Dodge of Sarepta, La., three step-daughters, Mercedes Ivins of Vivian, Isabelle Greene of Welch, La., and Sarah Berry of Shreveport; one sister, Dolly Beady of Longview, Texas; one brother, Everett Cumpston of Roseburg, Oregon and a large number of grandchildren.
