Death of Mr. Samuel Eakins.
Yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock Mr. Samuel Eakins died at his home on Smithfield street, in the south eastern part of the city. He was born in Philadelphia in 1812, but lived some years in Italy, where he married. He leaves a wife and several children. At one time he was quite wealthy. He was a man who had traveled widely and read much, and was once a member of the Masonic fraternity, but did not belong to it at the time of his death. During his long life he had fought in various wars in many parts of the world. He lived some years in Arizona and was in some desperate battles with Indians in the far West. He has a son in Philadelphia. He has resided here about eight years. The funeral will take place today at 5 o'clock p. m. at the Sacred Heart Church .
