NEUSEL, EDWARD "BIG ED" BENJAMIN - of Clinton, passed away Sunday, December 20, 1998, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., due to pneumonia following heart complications. "Big Ed" of Big Ed's Pizza, Oak Ridge, was born in Detroit, Mich., on October 7, 1926, and served in the first Marine Division during WWII in the Pacific on Palaw in the Pelelieus and Okinawa. He and his family moved to Oak Ridge in 1969, and opened Big Ed's Pizza in 1970.
He is survived by: wife of 40 years, Ginger Neusel; sons, Edward H. Neusel and his daughter, Katharine Danielle, David G. Neusel and wife, Melissa M., Paul C. Neusel and his son, Edward B. Neusel III and Paul's fiancee, Donna McPheeter and her children, Joshua and Morgan, Albert Baah, a son originally from Ghana, whom the Neusel's sponsored through college; as well as numerous friends around the world.
Funeral services are Thursday, December 24, 1998, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Burial in Oak Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors.
Memorials to the Girls Club, Inc., PO Box 7040, Oak Ridge, TN 37831-7040. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4-8:30 p.m., with a Masonic service at 8:30 p.m., at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
