Funeral Held Here For Samuel Reid, Former Resident
Funeral rites were held yesterday morning at the Presbyterian Church for Mr. Samuel Evans Reid, former resident, whose death occurred in New Orleans Saturday morning following an operation. Interment will be in the family cemetery ????The Rev. W F Patch ??? the obsequies.
A native of Chickasaw County, Mr. Reid was the son of the late Warren D and Mrs. Jane ??? Reid, pioneer settlers of Chickasaw County. He was graduated from A & M College in the class of 1904.
He left Houston more than 20 years ago and for a number of years, with his family, made his home in Springfield, Pa.
He was a government employee in the Cotton Textile Development service and was in New Orleans on business when stricken ill. His son, William, was with him when he died.
Besides his wife, who was Miss Effie Mae Peden, of Friendship, near Houlka, he leaves three sons, William and James, of Springfield, Pa., and Thomas, of Roanoke, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. James Veino, of Fraimington, Mass., Frances and Manette, of Springfield; three brothers, L B and J B, of Houston, and Warren, of Chicago; and one sister, Mrs. Edgar Hightower, of Houston.
The pallbearers were W T Johnson, Denton (the rest of the obituary is eroded away). Also where the ??? marks are is where the obituary is eroded away.
