He had been ill since early fall and was a hospital patient at intervals
during this time.
Mr. Martin was born in Johnson county Nov. 9, 1865, the son of James and
Elizabeth Goforth Martin. He came to Audubon county in 1869 and settled
in Audubon township where he lived on a farm all his life.
He was married to Minnie Martin on March 12, 1902 and last March observed
their golden wedding anniversary.
Surviving are his wife and five children: one daughter, Mrs. Beth Akers
of Exira, four sons, Cecil of California, Cassius of New Mexico, Basil
of Exira and Kermit at home. He also leaves three brothers and three sisters:
Bruce of Exira, George of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Rodney of Spokane, Washington;
Mrs. Winifred Ridgley, Mrs. Jessie Larsen, and Mrs. Blanche Davis all of
Exira.
Funeral services will be at the Christian church Thursday afternoon at
2 o'clock with the Rev Samuel Wall in charge.
