Subject is the youngest of 6 children (4 males, 2 females). About 10 years following the death of his mother, his father married Margaret Ann Shively Raffety. Subject has 3 half-brothers and 1 half-sister from that union, as well as 3 stepbrothers and 1 stepsister from Mrs. Raffety's previous marriage.
Mark Vowels, 81, a long-time resident of the Wyandotte-Seneca area, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday at Sale Memorial hospital in Neosho following a two-week illness.
Born Nov. 7, 1885, in Wyatt, Mo., Mr. Vowels formerly operated a service station and grocery in Seneca. He was a member of Seneca Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mamie Vowels, and a foster son, Max Moore, of the rural Wyandotte home; two sons, Harold Vowels and Clifford Vowels, both of Seneca; two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Burdick, Tulsa, and Mrs. Edith Walker, Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Seneca Methodist church with the Rev. Clarence Morrill officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery, Newtonia, Mo., under direction of Housh-Biddlecome funeral home, Seneca.
