Robert Matthew was a twin & the fifth of six children {three sons & three daughters} born to Michael & Mary (Hutterer) Moran.

On 5 May 1951, Robert first married Leona Sophia Kieser in Hennepin County, MN; he was age 25, she was 24. Leona was the ninth of ten children {six sons & four daughters} born to Andrew Frank & Susan Sophia (Hoffman) Kieser.

A homemaker & mother of these five, Leona died 30 August 1963 at age 37.

On 4 June 1966, Robert second married Doreen Marie Bidinger in Hennepin County, MN; he was age 40, she was 36. Doreen was the fourth of seven daughters born to Arthur Mathias & Elizabeth Theresia (Braun) Bidinger

"Robert M. Moran , of Bloomington, died peacefully at home from cancer at age 80.

"His beloved family had a very special place in his heart. Survived by loving wife, Doreen Marie; daughters, Kathy (Ken) Beale, Michelle, Mary, Lisa (Tom) Gorman and Patty; sons, Michael (Julie), James and Rob; grandchildren, Joseph and Betsy Aronson, Steven Moran, Seth and Lydia Gorman.

"Preceded in death by first wife, Leona (Kieser); parents, Michael & Mary Moran; sisters, Hazel DeFoe, Helen Schreiner and June Ewald; brother, Melvin & twin brother, William who was killed on 1 November 1944 while serving on a US Navy destroyer in the South Pacific.

"Bob was a life member of VFW Post 5555 and DAV, Chapter 1. He proudly served 2-1/2 years in the South Pacific with the First Marine Division in WWII; participated in 4 invasions and was wounded in the invasion of Peleliu."

He was awarded the Purple Heart, as well as other individual & unit commendations for his service in New Guinea, New Britain, Peleliu, Okinawa and North China."
