James W. Sterner, 77, of Duncannon, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2009 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born in Duncannon on April 1, 1931, to the late George and Florence (Baltosser) Sterner.
He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Jim was a retired electrician from IBEW Local #143. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, Duncannon Sportsman's Association, Perry Lodge #458 F&AM, Marysville, Duncannon American Legion Post #340, and the Duncannon High School Alumni Association. Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing, boating, bird watching, more importantly spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren participate in sports.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Emma (Rohrer) Sterner; a son, Ross J. Sterner and his wife Shannen of Watts Township; 2 daughters, Sharon R. Spease of Columbus, GA, Pamela S. Haldeman and her husband Howie of Mechanicsburg; 8 grandchildren, Jennie Baker and her husband Scott, Jason Barton and his wife Sara, Nicole Haldeman, Katie Haldeman, Brian Haldeman, Nathan Sterner, Brent Sterner, Rachael Sterner; 2 great-grandsons, Jarrett Baker and Kolby Baker.
Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. (Noon) on Saturday, January 17, 2009 in Christ Lutheran Church, Duncannon, with Rev. David Schreffler officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. (Noon) on Saturday in the church.
Arrangements are being handled by the Ronald C. L. Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High Street, Duncannon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's honor may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church, 115 Church Street, Duncannon, PA 17020. Smith
