Sarah or "Sallie" was the daughter of Rachel Barnholt and George Washington Carpenter.

Sallie married Thomas Hunter and they had at least one child: Sallie Hunter McQuade.
She lived at 2039 West Boston Avenue in Philadelphia at the time of her death due to "phthisis pulmonitis" the latin term for pulmonary tuberculosis.
