Gr. Grandfather was born on May 22, 1906, in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana the son of Joseph Milton & Missouri Alice (German) Corwin.

He was first united in marriage to Ruth M. Smith Land on May 26, 1925, in LaPorte County, Indiana. To this union, one known child was born: Colleen Alice (Corwin) Ridlen. However, this union ended in divorce around 1930.

In the 1930's he made his living as a prize fighter.

We know that he was married several more times, and had several more children, ending in the 4th or 5th marriage to Nancy M. Eller, whom he married on October 14, 1964 (per obit).

Obit -

William E. Corwin, 77, died June 27, 1983 at 3 a.m. in his residence of an apparent heart failure. He was born in Shelbyville, Ind., on May 22, 1906 and lived here for twenty-five years coming from Rolling Prairie, Ind. He was retired from Allis Chalmers-LaPorte, Ind. He married Nancy Eller on October 14, 1964 in Valparaiso, Ind., who survives.

Survivors include four sons, Patrick, Timothy, at home, Joseph of Rutland, Vermont, Daniel of Walkerton; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Michelle) Cowger of Walkerton, six grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday, June 30, 1983 at 1 p.m. at Rannells Funeral Home - Koontz Lake Chapel, Rev. Lloyd George will officiate. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Rannells Koontz Lake Chapel, Walkerton, Ind., in charge of services.
