He is most noted for his roles in the films "The Student Prince" (1954) and "The Egyptian" (1954). Born in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, he appeared on the London Stage before making his Broadway debut in the production "Caesar and Cleopatra" (1951 to 1952). He rose to international fame and enjoyed a productive period in Hollywood during the 1950s and 1960s. Among his other film credits are "Julius Ceasar" (1953), "Athena" (1954), "The King's Thief" (1955), "The Comedy Man (1963) and "The Yellow Rolls-Royce" (1964). He appeared in the television mini-series "The Winds of War" (1983). He was formerly married to actress Linda Christian. (bio by: C.S.)
