Enlisted July 20, 1862 in Company A, 7th New York Volunteer Heavy Artillery. Mustered in as 1st Sergeant on August 18, 1862. Discharged due to disability at Fort Reno, Washington, DC on May 25, 1863.
He enlisted in the Union Navy on May 24, 1864, and served as a Landsman on board the USS Juniata, dying during his service.
On April 25, 1865 his file Susan Abos filed for a US Navy Pension (Application #668, Certificate #775).
Susan A. Abos died on March 17, 1872 in Albany, New York.
