Jennings Rites Held at Woodland
Funeral services for Thomas Vernon Jennings of Route 2, Woodland were conducted at 3 pm, Friday, Nov. 12, from Amity Baptist Church with interment in Arbor Grove Cemetery. The Revs. Carl Morris and James L Kennedy officiated with Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Thomas Odie Martin, Leon Martin, Billy Martin, Phillip Martin, Robert A Vaughn, and Gay Lantrip.
Mr. Jennings, a retired farmer, died Nov. 11, at 2:15 pm at Hillcrest Hospital, Calhoun City. He was born June 23, 1913, the son of Christopher Jennings and Lena Grissom Jennings, and had lived in Chickasaw county all his life.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eva Lamb Jennings of Woodland, two sons, Thomas Jennings of Houston, and Joseph Jennings of Woodland, six daughters, Mrs. Jimmy Lancaster, Van Vleet; Mrs. Jack Nabors, Mrs. Gerald Griffin and Mrs. Gerald Marion, all of Woodland, Mrs. Tom Byars, Jr., Houlka, and Mrs. Charlie L Porter, Houston.
Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Gervis Nichols, Houston, and three half brothers, Ishmel Vaughn, Woodland, Gus Vaughn, Woodland, Rube Jennings, West Point. Ten grandchildren also survive.
