"The Beaver Dam Argus", Beaver Dam, Dodge County, Wisconsin - September 30, 1910
SMITH – At her late residence on Third street, September 15, 1910, Mrs. Ida Martha Smith, beloved wife of Elias Smith, in the 53rd year of her age.
Mrs. Smith had been in feeble health for several years, but had been able to attend to her duties at home until the past few weeks, when she was confined to her bed of languish and pain. Although in much suffering, she was patient and cheerful and bore her sickness with fortitude and comforted herself and her friends with words of cheer and songs of hope until the last.
She was the daughter of the late Josiah and Rosanna Allen, and was born February 11th, 1858, at Oak Grove, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Her early life was spent in Burnett, where she was united in marriage, January 17, 1878, to Mr. Elias Smith. Her twin sister – Miss Addie Martha Allen was married at the same time to Mrs. George Smith, a brother of her husband, Elder J. C. Pattee officiating. The two families lived together four years and then Mr. and Mrs. Elias Smith moved to Beaver Dam, where they made many friends and lived in much domestic comfort. Mrs. Smith was very useful in Beaver Dam as a nurse and took care of Mr. P. Whitemore in his declining days.
Her funeral was largely attended at the house in Beaver Dam and her burial in the old cemetery at Burnett Corners.
