**An open house will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. July 2 at the Fellowship Hall of Baptist Church in Ramona to celebrate the 60th wedding anniversary of Cody and Jackie (Holly) Ward. Their children and daughters-in-law are hosting the event: Roman Ward Jr., Holly and Doris Ward, Mike and Paulette Ward, Terry Ward, and Sue Lillie. The Wards were married June 30, 1934, at the Bartlesville Courthouse by Judge Charlton, a family friend. They have eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
**Roman Sr. "Cody" was born near Twin Mounds between Ramona and Ochelata on Feb. 14, 1914, along with a twin brother, Norman, who died in July 1915. Mr. Ward has lived in the Ramona area all his life as a farmer and oilman until retiring and moving into the town of Ramona. He worked in the local grocery store as a butcher until his second retirement.
**Mr. and Mrs. Ward worked in Yellowstone National Park four seasons; he as a security guard and she as a jewelry and fine gift saleswoman.
**Both the Ward and the Holly families are pioneer families, coming into Oklahoma before statehood.
**Mrs. Ward was born in west Tulsa on Aug. 12, 1917, moving to California when an infant, where her father worked in the shipbuilding industry during WWI. They moved back to west Tulsa and then lived in Burkburnet, Texas, for five years and then back to Tulsa where she attended grade and junior high school before her family moved to Ramona in 1931 where she finished her education.
**Mr. Ward began his formal education at the Westside Country School, west of Ramona, and graduated from the Ramona School in 1934.
