He was born June 25, 1924 in South Cottonwood Utah, to John and Lula Hammer.
He was educated in Utah and graduated from Jordan High School
He married Gwen Hand on Aug. 25, 1943.
He was a fish hatchery manager for the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and served at various hatcheries in Utah, Wyoming and New York state. He was manager of the Creston Fish Hatchery in Montana from 1964 until his retirement in 1979.
He is survived by his wife at the family home in Kalispell; three sons, Robert of Hamilton, MT., Wayne and Keith of Kalispell Mt., a daughter, Virginia Norton, Kalispell MT.; five grandchildren; a sister, Irene Tapp of Salt Lake City; and a brother Lloyd Hammer of Salt Lake City, Utah.
The family has suggest memorials to the Mountain Brook Scholarship Fund.
