Doge of Venice 1268 - 1275. Buried with his father Doge Jacobo Tiepolo. As a commander during the war of Saint Sabas with Genoahe he defeated the Genoese at Acre, Israel in 1257. After the death of Doge Reniero Zeno, Lorenzo became Doge of Venice. In 1270 an important treaty of peace was signed with Genoa at Cremona, confirming the Venetian predominance in the Adriatic Sea. In the same year a war broke out between Venice and a league of Italian cities. In 1271 there was a setback in the peace treaty but the Venetians were able to overcome the crises and Venice kept the upperhand in the Adriatic Sea. Under his reign, Marco Polo began his journey to China in 1273.
