Born May 23, 1923, at Lithium, MO, son of Lemie and Lorene Henderson Gibbar, he was employed as a forklift operator for Motorola and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of the New Grace Baptist Church in Thomasville.
On Oct. 2, 1945, in Harrisburg, IL, he married Dorothy Marie Nichols who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Valerie Hilligas; six brothers, Kenny Gibbar, George Gibbar, Lemie Gibbar, Ray Gibbar, Mike Gibbar, and Leon Gibbar; three sisters, Dolores Gibbar, Margaret Hagan and Mary Swan; and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and his stepmother.
