James Cleao Fulford was the son of Daniel Lamar Fulford and Mattie Jaunita Howard Fulford.

James was born August 31, 1915 in Blackshear, Pierce County, Georgia, and died April 12, 1942 Camp Davis, North Carolina

Sgt. James C. Fulford was killed in an Army convoy, in the U.S. Army while serving in Camp Davis, North Carolina, at age 26 years, 7 months and 12 days old. He was buried April 15, 1942 in Enon Cemetery, Pierce County, Georgia, with Rev. D.V. Cason of Central Baptist Church officiating. He was survived by his wife, 6 brothers, Harry, Andrew, Joe, sisters, Ella and Ruby. He had been in service for about 5 years.

James married Nellie Marie Moon born November 2, 1918 in Virginia, on October 16, 1937 in Lewisetta, Northumberland County, Virginia. They had two sons, Ralph Edward Fulford and James Columbus Fulford.

James Cleao Fulford had two other brothers in the Military, same time he was.

"Sgt. James Fulford, who has been in the Army five years, is stationed at Norfolk, Va. , Harry Fulford, eldest of the trio, has seen 17 years of service with the navy and is now stationed at Pearl Harbor. He is a chief Commissary steward at Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii. Tracey Fulford followed his two brothers into the line of active duty, enlisting two years ago in the Army. He is at Ft. Randolph, in Panama.
They are brothers of Joe Fulford of Waycross, their parents, both of whom are dead, being residents of this section. The Fulford home place being near the Ware- Pierce County line."
