MRS. VIOLA E. MOORE

Mrs. Viola E. Moore, 91, of 6217 East Thirty-fifth, died Thursday at the home. She was born in Portland, Mo., and lived here 28 years. Mrs. Moore was a member of the Leeds Baptist church. Surviving are a son, Walter L. Moore, 1402 Fremont; three daughters, Mrs. Elvira Honea, 6215 East Thirty-fifth, Mrs. Susan Mathews of the home, and Mrs. Isabelle Stanbrough, 4508 Rainbow, three sisters, Mrs, Belle Garriott, Fulton, Mo., Mrs. Eunice Dewey, De Soto, Mo., and Mrs. Anna Mae Werner, St. Louis; four half brothers, Arthur Matteson, Mokane, Mo.; Paul Matteson, Portland, Francis Matteson, Fulton, and Russel Matteson, Alton, Ill.; a half sister, Mrs. Mabel Van Kirk, Truesdail, Mo.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. Services will be held at 1 o'clock Monday at the church; burial in Floral Hills cemetery. Friends may call after noon Sunday at the Earp chapel.- Kansas City Star & Times, Sat. Oct. 19, 1968

MRS. VIOLA MOORE, FORMERLY OF PORTLAND DIES IN KANSAS CITY

Mrs. Viola Emmaline Moore, 91, died Thursday, October 17, 1968 at her home in Kansas City. She was born near Portland, on January 11, 1877, to Asa and Hermena Illig Matteson. Mrs. Moore grew up in that neighborhood and later lived in Portland and Mokane. Her entire life was lived in Missouri except for two years in the State of Colorado.
Mrs. Moore became a christian in her early teens and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. At death she was a member of the Leeds Baptist Church in Kansas City.
On Dec. 27, 1893, she was united in marriage to Henry K. Maddox, who died in January, 1894. To this union a son was born, Henry K., Jr. He died in 1897. On April 9, 1899 she was married to Littleton A. Moore, who preceded her in death ten years ago. To this union five children were born. One son, James Alonza Moore, died in 1907.
Survivors include a son, Water L. Moore, of Kansas City; three daughters, Mrs. Elvira Honea, and Mrs. Susan Mathews, of Kansas City, and Mrs. Isabelle Stanbrough, of Kansas City, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Belle Garriott, Fulton; Mrs. Eunice Dewey, DeSota, and Mrs. Anna Mae Werner, of St. Louis; four half brothers, Arthur Matteson, Mokane; Paul Matteson, Portland; Francis Matteson, Fulton; and Russell Matteson, Alton, Ill.; a half sister, Mrs. Mabel VanKirk, Truesdale; six grand children, four great-grandchildren, one step grandson, eight step great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Moore was in a wheelchair over six years but was bed fast only three weeks prior to her death. She was an active christian worker who was kind and generous in helping folks of the community until she was confined to the wheel chair.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Leeds Baptist Church and burial was in Floral Hills Cemetery. -Mokane Missourian, Thurs. Nov. 7, 1968
