Victor Henkhaus of Bethalto Dies
Victor F Henkhaus, 36, a brother of former Village President, John Henkhaus of Bethalto, died at 7 a.m. today at the home of his mother, Mrs Julia Henkhaus, 613 Lampert street, where he had been cared for since returning from Barnes Hospital in St Louis, eight weeks ago.
Until ill health compelled him to seek treatment in the hospital last July, he had conducted a tavern at Bethalto. He was born in Foster township, April 25, 1899, and had spent his entire life in that area. Recently he had been staying at the home of his mother in order to be nearer his attending physician.
He had attended the parochial schools in Alton and was a member of a family well known here.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his widow, Mrs Hilda M Henkhaus; three children, Bernadine, Victor and Cletus; a brother, John Henkhaus of Bethalto; and four sisters, Mrs Mary Rundell of Tampa, Fla; Mrs George Walck of St Louis, and Mrs Lawrence Stanton and Mrs Gage Crim, both of Bethalto. A brother, Edward, died in service in the World War.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from St Patrick's Church.
Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. The body may be seen at the home of his mother, 613 Lampert street, after 4 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be recited there Friday at 8 p.m.
