Alvarado Rites Held in Sidney

Funeral services for Abraham Alvarado, 59, Fairview, were held at 10 a.m. May 20, at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel in Sidney with Phillip D. Bradshaw, officiating.

Pallbearers were Ascencion Garza, Phillip Hernanadez, Frank Hernandez, Manuel Maldonado, Martin Perez and Pablo Vallejo. Vocal selections were "Keep Your Eye on the Prize" and "God's Loving Provision," sung by Amy Quilling and accompanied by organist, Dorothy Gall, Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born at Neuvo Leon, Mexico on March 16, 1912, son of Juaguine and Preciliana Alvarado. He moved with his parents to Texas as a boy and was raised there. He and Santos Garza were married at Crystal City, Tex., in 1930 and the couple came to Fairview in 1938. Santos died in 1943 and on May 26, 1945 Abraham and Paula Lopez were married at Fairview. In the following years the couple had lived and worked at Fairview during the summer season and spent the winters in Texas.

Abraham was killed in an automobile accident May 17, 1971. The accident occurred just east of the Fairview Bridge and Abraham was dead on arrival at the Sidney hospital.

Surviving him are: his widow, Paula, Fairview; four sons, Mariano, Abernathy, Tex.; Juan, Sidney; Jesse, Fairview; Lupe, Caldwell, Idaho; three step-sons, Raymond, Lubbock, Tex.; Elias, Lubbock, Tex.; and Federiko, Shallow Water, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Savino (Julia) Granado, Dalls, Tex.; Mrs. Enosente (Anita) Mejarado, Petersburg, Tex., and Nicolasa Alvarado, Fairview; his father, Juaquine Alvarado, Crystal City, Tex.; one sister, Sebera Zertucke, Fresno, Calif.; 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, mother, three children, three sisters and one brother.
