Birth: Apr. 17, 1922
West Virginia, USA
Death: Dec. 7, 2008
Colorado, USA

Mildred Lorraine "Pat" Hillman Parker was born April 17, 1922, in her grandmother's log cabin, delivered prematurely by a midwife, and grew up in the coal mining company town of Holdenville, West Virginia. She walked into God's loving arms on Sunday, December 7, 2008, after a short illness.

Pat was a trained beautician, but she enlisted in the Women's Army Corp in 1943. She attended Sul Ross State University, and upon graduation from administration school, she was assigned as an administrative clerk to Camp Wolters Reception Center in Mineral Wells, Texas. There she met the love of her life, David Parker, Jr. They were married on March 17, 1944, and spent the next 64 years together raising their two sons, David E. Parker III and Ronald Parker, and enjoying their four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pat was a devoted, loving and compassionate mother. She was David's right hand -- a supportive, caring, considerate, and giving wife in David's role as a United Methodist minister, including 1978-1983 when he served as pastor at Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha.

Pat is survived by her husband, David Jr., of Pagosa Springs; her sons, David III and wife Linda Parker of Pagosa Springs; Ronald Parker of Pottsboro, Tex; brothers William Hillman of Bakersfield, Calif, and Albert Hillman of Weston, Wis; and a sister, Brenda Trent, of Dayton, Ohio.

Services were Thursday, December 11, 2008, at Chapel of the Southfork, Southfork, Colo, with Derrick Haskins officiating. Burial was at Homelake Cemetery in Monte Vista, Colo.

Note: She had planned to be buried in Texas. She and her husband had their plots picked out and the marker fixed, but things didn't happen as planned.
