The daughter of Zollie Washam and Minnie (Jackson) Washam. Mary met her husband Carl Clark while she and a sister were working in a dry cleaning establishment in Pryor. Carl was in Pryor for a few weeks and then left for about 10 years. On returning to Pryor he went into the same dry cleaners where Mary was still working. After a short courtship they married and moved to California where Carl worked as a welder. Their daughter was born while they resided in California. Upon moving back to Oklahoma they started their own cleaning business, Modern Cleaners, which was owned and operated by the family for 41 years until the business was closed in 2006. She was a very devoted mother and wife to her family.
Survivors include a son, and a daughter, two sisters, three brothers, and two granddaughters.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl Clark in 1986, two sisters, Zelma Washam and Elva Bradshaw, and one brother, Billy Washam.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 18, 2008 ub the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Hershel Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodland Memorial Park under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service.
