Opens Barber Shop

Hugo Bauer, formerly with the Emil Wienke barber shop, has opened a shop in the Knights of Columbus building at 109 N. Spring street. The building was formerly occupied by the Monarch Cigar Store. New fixtures, comprising a two chair shop, have been installed. Mr. Henry Goethels of Milwaukee is assisting in the shop.

Hugo Bauer, 307 4th St., Beaver Dam, passed away suddenly at his home here on Thursday, April 6. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10, 9:30 a.m. at the Murray Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph S. Stier will officiate at the services and burial will be in the parish cemetery.

The late Mr. Bauer was born on Sept. 26, 1901, at Le Roy, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bauer. On Sept. 5, 1928, he was married to Erna T. Gocker. Mr. Bauer, who lived in Beaver Dam for most of his life, owned and operated the Bauer Barber Shop here for many years. He retired three years ago. Mr. Bauer was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are three sons, Fred of Portland, Oregon, Tom of Tucson, Ariz., and Norman of Genesco, New York; a foster son, James Raymond of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Mrs. James (Marie) Weinberger, Sr. of Le Roy, and Mrs. Rose Bachuber of Mayville, Roman of Waupun, and Norbert and Albin of Le Roy; and other relatives and friends. Preceding in death were his parents, wife, and three brothers.

Friends may call at the Murray Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Sunday. There will be a Knights of Columbus vigil at 7:30 and a parish and Holy Name Society vigil at 8 p.m. Sunday evening.
